Farewell Journey in Pink — Seiko × Hello Kitty Shinkansen Finale
The Hello Kitty Shinkansen was a moving celebration of imagination, a 500 Series Kodama transformed into a cultural icon. From its first departure on June 30, 2018, the train’s white and pink body, crowned with Hello Kitty’s oversized ribbon, turned everyday travel along the Sanyo Shinkansen line into a joyful spectacle. For eight years it carried passengers between Shin‑Osaka and Hakata with charm and whimsy, until its farewell run on May 17, 2026, when fans gathered to witness a finale filled with emotion and spectacle.
Seiko now captures this chapter in mechanical form with the Hello Kitty Shinkansen 500 Series Finale Commemorative Automatic Watch. The dial glows with pink tones and a gradient to black on the upper dial, echoing the train’s playful exterior and the cockpit window. At the same time, a golden bow rests near the 1 o’clock position — a subtle nod to Hello Kitty’s enduring charm. The caseback is engraved with the "Hello Kitty Shinkansen" emblem, a gratitude-themed "MY THANKS," and an edition number, affirming its place among the strictly limited 2,026 pieces. Each watch is presented in a commemorative box designed to embody the spirit of the collaboration.
