To celebrate the Casio G-SHOCK 40th anniversary, Casio collaborated with the Japanese legendary swordsmith master Sadanobu Gassan to create the latest MRG-B2000GA-1A.
MRG-B2000GA-1A featured the stunning techniques of master swordsmith Sadanobu Gassan. Evoking the philosophy of the Japanese sword, the titanium band is crafted by Gassan to resemble a tang. This hidden, but pivotal part of the sword is traditionally marked with a yasuri-me pattern to keep the blade firmly in the handle. Gassan hand-carves the watch band with these marks and with Chinese characters "鍛" and "錬" inscriptions as a symbol of his family’s devotion to swordsmithing.
This dedication to detail and excellence on MRG-B2000GA-1A imbues each timepiece with a unique presence all its own. Casio introduces its all-new hybrid titanium bezel that evokes the look of the Gassan family’s signature ayasugi-hada patterns.
This newly developed titanium is crafted with recrystallized layers of pure and Ti64 titanium, a process overseen by Gassan himself to capture the true beauty of a sword blade’s temper patterns. The blue-grey bezel, band and case back, finished in the most recent addition to Casio colour ion plating technology, express the blue-tinged ferrous colouration that is the mark of a finely crafted sword.
This truly special MRG-B2000GA-1A celebrates both the traditional artisanal techniques and cutting-edge technologies of Japan — all in a singular sword-inspired timepiece.
