It has been 35 years since the introduction of the Casio G-Shock DW-5000C onto the world watch market. In 2018 G-Shock introduces additions to the new exterior, new structure, and new module GMW-B5000 lineup, equipped with a Connected Engine. 

This year in 2022, an intense texture is crafted in an array of fine finishes on a black metal canvas is launched. Introducing the GMW-B5000MB-1, a true heir to the first-ever G-SHOCK in a multi-finish black metal design. Honing finishes feature prominently on the bezel and band, with sides treated in a hairline finish and bevelled band surfaces, screws and buttons treated in a mirror finish. The entire watch is then coated in black ion plating.

The base model of the GMW-B5000MB-1 is the GMW-B5000, which is the model from which we reviewed our hollow case structure and developed an even higher level of shock resistance. Fine resin shock absorbers between the metal bezel and case created a shock-resistant structure for a full-metal case. Innovative new band connections use highly shock resistant TROGAMID® to lessen the effects of impact on the band pipes. The back covers of the thick screw-back cases of these models come with diamond-like carbon (DLC) finish that is highly wear-resistant. A film solar cell that maintains display clarity and an STN-LCD are used to ensure easy reading of display information, even from an angle.
