2020, Seiko celebrates its 60th Anniversary and has launched many special editions to celebrate such a remarkable milestone. After 2017, Grand Seiko becomes independent; carrying Seiko's superior craftsmanship spirit, constantly evolving, and aim to deliver their quality to a new height. The three Grand Seiko Collections - Heritage Collection, Sports Collection & Elegance Collection, each has its distinctive characteristics and continuously demonstrating the strength and the power of the Grand Seiko Lions.
Each year, Grand Seiko Tokyo will gather its special fans and VIPs to a privileged press event to highlight their development and new projects. This year, Grand Seiko is planning to launch two limited editions, SBGC245 and SBGA449 to celebrate such a special event and as a token of appreciation to their fans.
The design concept of these two Sports Collections is based on the inspiration of the Sengoku Warriors. The blue, brown, and gold are the colors of the armor of the Sengoku Warriors also known as the "Lion Armor". The color blue and gold of the Lion Armor symbolized the color of a winning or Aizen's winning color - Katsuiro. Both SBGC245 and SBGA449 have genuine crocodile leather. The leather is a representation of the strength of the Lion Armor; by applying a technique called "Valley Insertion" on the crocodile leather, yellow gold paint is applied to the groove part of the spot. Both the SBGC245 and SBGA449 are limited to 20 pieces only.
