Doctor Yellow is the nickname for the high-speed test trains that are used on the Japanese Shinkansen ("Bullet Train") dedicated express passenger train routes. The trains have special equipment on board to monitor the condition of the track and overhead wire, including specially instrumented bogies and observation blisters.
This time, Seiko has collaborated with "Sumikko Gurashi", the beloved anime characters from "Sumikko Gurashi," to bring you the stunning Dr. Yellow watch. This collaboration is a dream come true for fans of both the popular character "Sumikko Gurashi" and the legendary "923 Type Doctor Yellow" train, which ensures the operation and safety of Shinkansen trains. The watch features Sumikko Gurashi playfully peeking out from the dial, adding an element of excitement to its design.
The dots, hour, and minute hands of the watch resemble Dr. Yellow's headlights and are made with Lumibrite, a special phosphorescent paint that enhances visibility. The curved hardlex windshield is designed to mimic the shape of a Shinkansen's windshield, adding a touch of authenticity to the timepiece. The package includes a special depot station designed to resemble the home of Sumikko. Enclosed in a unique wooden box, the special packaging is reminiscent of Dr. Yellow waiting for service at the train depot.
